CycleHop introduces advanced bike share technology at the Shared-Use Mobility Summit
San Francisco, CA — Bike share technology and equipment company Smoove SAS of France has partnered with CycleHop, LLC to distribute Smoove’s innovative bike share equipment in North America.
The bike share industry is expanding rapidly in North America; by the end of 2014 over 50 U.S. cities will have bike share programs. This growth has prompted Smoove SAS to enter the North American market through a distribution partnership with CycleHop, an established American bike share company.
Smoove’s technology is state-of-the-art, 5th generation bike share equipment. The Smoove system features a rental control box onboard the bicycle and advanced fork-lock technology. These components eliminate the need for costly electronics on the docking posts, and allow for quick and easy bike access by users.
Smoove is currently operating in over a dozen cities in Europe and Asia, with about 20,000 bikes deployed.
“Our partnership with CycleHop will allow us to quickly expand into North America and share the success of the Smoove product,” said CEO of Smoove SAS, Laurent MERCAT.
CycleHop is a bike share consulting and operations company with 20 years of experience in the cycling industry. Because of the equipment’s versatility, CycleHop plans to distribute the Smoove product to the municipal transit market as well as hotels, parks, universities, and commercial properties.
“We have identified some core advantages in the Smoove bike share technology and look forward to distributing and supporting the product in North America,” said Josh Squire, CEO of CycleHop, LLC.
